Re: Mental Health

Any day is a good day to remind you that this too shall pass. And you’re not alone. At all.

It can start when a quirk in your personality slowly grows out of your control and into something much more crippling. On your own, it can take years to identify its existence and pull you back.

The first step is accepting that you need help. Sometimes someone who cares for you suggests it, sometimes you feel like it yourself.
Any help is effective only when it’s you who finally asks for it.

The hard part is ignoring anyone’s voice when it says “therapy is for the weak and you’re strong!”
And it’s harder if that voice is your own.

As much as your family, friends or partner want to be there for you, they’re not experts. And sometimes you need that expert eye. Remind yourself that asking for help is hardly a sign of weakness and go for a session.
Just go, even if you don’t know what to say.

🌗

Remember that it takes a few tries before you find a therapist you feel comfortable with. And it takes a few sessions to figure that out.
Don’t lose hope.

The ways and methods of getting better can be slow and progress is not easy to measure or judge right away.
Be open minded.

One day you’ll realise you’ve been consistently feeling better for a while now. And you’re more comfortable with who — and how — you are.

After that it’s all about keeping on practicing healthy habits and exercises that your therapist might have taught you.

🌞

As you say ‘bye’ to toxic relationships and friendships, make sure to hold those close to you, who have consistently tried to bring out the best and healthiest in you.
Make sure you do the same for them, in turn.

Spread the love, but remember that self–love is a great kind of love, deserved by the one and only person that’ll stay with you throughout your life — you.

Lastly, remember this —
People who seem sunny on the outside are so, because they have a raging ball of fire inside them that they built to fight the negativity outside, as well as inside.
